Artist Jo Napier has interviewed the Internet’s seminal thinkers and pioneers for PBS documentaries and a book, Technology With Curves (Harper Collins). Her research, and a growing sense of responsibility to show her daughter the 'female face' of innovation, led to her first Great Women portrait collection, acquired by The Royal Bank for their national art collection.
The Great Women Portrait Project was launched in 2023 and Napier's Great Women portraits now hang in the public and professional spaces from coast to coast, including offices of Sanofi Pharmaceuticals, Lockheed Martin Canada, Women in Nuclear (Canada), universities, libraries and medical schools. The first U.S. woman to join the project: Frances 'Poppy' Northcutt, the first female engineer in NASA's Mission Control. The last company to come on board: AstraZeneca Canada.
In 2026, the Project begins its Educational Phase with a pilot project that takes Great Women art from boardrooms, libraries, hospital walls and offices... into classrooms and science centres.
